Choreg Cake Mix Cookies

A low-carb & sugar-free alternative to one of our favorite breads using the Classic Yellow cake mix! The flavor is on point! Choreg is the Armenian version of a yeast bread we usually enjoy during Easter. Everyone bakes theirs differently with the constant ingredients being flour, eggs, milk, sugar, yeast and fat. We add mahleb (a nutty spice made from ground sour cherry seeds) & black caraway seeds to ours. We pair it with Armenian string cheese and a cup of cinnamon tea for the ultimate food memory win!
What you will need:
  • Classic Yellow Cake Mix

  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds

  • 1/2 tsp mastic gum

  • 1/2 tsp mahleb

  • 8 tbsp butter, melted

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

  2. Combine all the dry ingredients together. Add in the butter, milk & eggs. Mix until fully incorporated. Use a medium cookie scoop for drop cookies. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.

*Other flavor cake drops can be made with the Classic Yellow Cake Mix.
